The Truth.. about CPC
IDNs are worthless, the traffic is worthless.

Continuing the Mythbusting series from here..
One of the most common myths I hear is that international traffic is worthless, or at least not worth chasing.
While it’s true that many factors come into play to determine value, it certainly isn’t true that ALL international traffic is worthless.
I could write a long post and batter you into submission with a ton of facts and case studies and logic of why that is.. but sometimes a picture is worth a thousand words.
The following chart represents some random keywords I ran through Googles Keyword tool
I picked 7 words/phrases in English and in Japanese and plotted the Average CPC according to Google.

This is a fascinating game to play, and when I have time I’ll run a similar exercise but comparing a group of languges side by side for the same keyword – but even with a small subset of data like this you can see how the story really unfolds.
Base data:

IDN/International traffic worthless? Busted!

It is a huge myth.
International traffic usually is as good as North American traffic. We were spoiled here last few years and had a lot of credit extended, which means we were buying more things than any other nation.
But, ALL international traffic is good. Someone that says something like “Malaysia traffic is garbage”, I can assure knows nothing about pay-per-click and buying traffic.
Human beings behave nearly the same way in Malaysia for instance, as they do in North America. There is no difference.
But it’s good. Some of the wealthiest people in the industry have made it knowing this. And some of the poorest are the ones that go around saying international is junk.
Gary- Fantastic post that should really turn some heads about the value of foreign traffic, and it is a nice counterpoint to Rick’s IDNBlog interview.
